IRON Cares Food Drive
In partnership with the NALC’s “Stamp Out Hunger”
May 11th marks the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) “Stamp Out Hunger” and this year the IRON community will take part with our first IRON Cares Food Drive.
We believe in not only serving our members, but also the wider community. This means getting involved. We’re so excited to be able to help those who are less fortunate through the generosity of our staff and loyal members.
Starting today, we will have food bins stationed next to our front desks to collect items. We invite you to donate any non-perishable foods for those in need in the local community.
Non-perishable foods include:
- Pasta sauce or spaghetti sauce
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned meals (such as soups, chili and pasta)
- 100% juice
- Peanut butter
- Macaroni & cheese
- Canned protein (tuna, chicken and turkey)
- Beans (canned or dry)
You also can donate healthy, low-sodium, low-sugar items such as beans, oatmeal (and other whole grains), as well as canola or olive oil. Please do not donate items that have expired, are in glass containers, food that is opened, damaged, out of code or does not have the official ingredients included.
For more information on NALC’s “Stamp Out Hunger” program you can visit their website here. All proceeds will stay in our local community and we are working with NALC representatives to get more detailed information on where your donations will go. More news on this as it comes!
